2024 After 13 years on the streets we throw our first ball. Madame Vic’s hosted “bad to the bone ball” La La Soul entertained us, with a dose of Thugsy the Clown. Fabulous evening with lots of giveaways great food by empire state deli, and then some.
Krewe of Boo was a blast, as we pulled out vintage halloween costumes ! Krampus nolauf, and next up joan of arc.
Look for another new section in Joan of Arc with the courir de mardigras gras, right behind our girl in gold, joanie on the pony.
2023 we kicked off our season with big queen doing a flashmob styled wedding prior to rolling in krewe of boo. Then we rolled in krampus, Joan of Arc, Boheme and Muses. Big Queen was out for the season as she gets a hip replacement and the bonez rolled on.
2022 Parades return to the city. Joan of Arc rolls with a mystery krewe at the front of their parade dressed as plague doctors. they sweep the plague off the streets and burn incense, hand out plague repellent and doubloons. The mystery Plague Doctors were non other than Skinz N Bonez, and the rest of the krewe rolled in their usual judgement section. We even made it onto CBS sunday morning. A once in a lifetime moment for all of us.
2021 Mardigras is shut down. Then in October Krewe Of Boo rises, and rolls. Masks were mandatory, as vaccines were too. We rolled this parade and with great joy felt a normalcy return to the city. It was the test run for the next years parades.
2020
The year that shall not be named. While the pandemic closed down the city, we rolled our last parade of the previous season only to watch it all get shut down. We also lost a mentor, Ronald Lewis. – drum with us.
2019
a great year filled with many variations of fundraising. Big Queen donates each year to the Pussyfooter ball. This is one of the largest fundraising moments in all of mardigras, and the proceeds go to help other women, be it shelters or education.
Each year we always donate to the St Bernard Battered Womens Shelter. We try to coordinate this during the Christmas Season.
we had a wonderful moment with Noelani Musicario on The Art of Kindness, and you can listen in right here…Go to www.WHIVFM.org, click On Demand, scroll to The Art of Kindness, click on the date 12-7-19 and there we are.
We enjoyed working with the Incredible Will Smith Jr / local artist and kind being, as he brought us to the stage to raise funds for the New Orleans Musicians Clinic. Hello Gong Show. LOL
As always in the late summer and early fall, we raise funds to buy school supplies for kids. We take these to the House of Dance and Feathers to Gatekeeper Ronald Lewis. this is a must, and always fun. We team up with Louisiana Pizza Kitchen to raise funds on their tuesday funding day.
We also joined with Arno this year at the Pizza Kitchen as well.
Big Queen also assisted in rescuing a dog that had been on the streets for months, moving from neighborhood to neighborhood. Proud to say that Blackie the Lab, now has a new home.
